His guidance includes implementing stronger step-up verification for high-risk actions, enhancing liveness detection and anti-spoofing controls, and utilizing device and behavioral analytics to detect anomalies. Additionally, he advises establishing out-of-band confirmation protocols for sensitive transactions such as beneficiary changes or high-value payments.

Both experts agree that technology alone cannot address this threat effectively. Ford advocates for "the pause and verify rule"—a non-technical control requiring additional verification through separate communication channels before executing sensitive transactions.
